Transfer Photos from Across Online Services with Pi.pe

Pi.pe
There are many online image sharing services available including the popular ones like Flickr, Instagram, Picasa, Facebook, 500px, Photobucket etc. But these services does not have any option to transfer photos from one online service to another one. Pi.pe is an online free service which allows you to move your media files including photos and videos to another online service. The web app supports most of the popular services like 500px, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, Kodak Gallery, MySpace, Photobucket, Shutterfly, Smugmug etc.

The service has a wizard like interface where you first select the source for your media files. You will be asked to login and grant permission for the app to use your media files.

In the second step, you select the albums (or photos) which you want to move to other online service. It lists out all the albums available.

Select albums

The final step, you select the service to which you want to move the photos. Here you have a wide range of services including Dropbox, Box.net, YouTube, Google Drive, Orkut, Evernote, YouTube (for videos) etc.

Destination

The app will verify your account and check if there is enough space on the account your have selected to move the media files to.

Pi.pe is definitely a good service if you want to to move large number of media files from one service to another.

Currently the service is invite only, but you can use the invite code “getpipe” at http://pi.pe.

Gotye Releasing 10 'Somebody That I Used To Know' Remixes on 1 Album

How do you celebrate the news that your xylophone-laden smash single is the year's longest-running No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart? By releasing an album featuring 10 separate remixes of that single, of course! On Thursday (May 31), Gotye announced that 10 remixes of "Somebody That I Used To Know," featuring Kimbra, are coming to iTunes next month, ahead of a just-announced North American tour that kicks off in August.

The "Somebody That I Used To Know" remix set, arriving as a bundle on iTunes on June 8, will feature new takes on the hit song by Tiesto, Adrock and Gang Colours, among others. "Somebody" just logged its seventh week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, besting the six-week run of fun.'s "We Are Young."

Gotye's Smash Hit Almost Didn't Happen

This summer, Gotye will bring "Somebody That I Used To Know" and the rest of his "Making Mirrors" album on the road with a 33-date North American trek, kicking off on Aug. 22 in Morrison, Colo. Finally, Gotye's newfound stateside success has resulted in the re-release of his album "Like Drawing Blood," originally issued in 2006 in Australia. Upgrading to Windows 8 Release Preview from Windows 7, Vista, XP and Windows 8 From ColomboZone

Windows 8 Screen
Microsoft has made available the Windows 8 Release Preview for public download and this version is similar to the Release candidate of Windows 7 before the final version. As always, the first questions asked would be can I upgrade from earlier version of Windows to Windows 8 release candidate? Yes, you can upgrade to Windows 8 Release Preview from Windows 8 Consumer Preview, Windows Developer Preview, Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, but you might not be able to keep all of your files, programs, and settings.

Microsoft has made available a chart which details on what you can keep when you are upgrading to Windows 8 RP and this is based on your existing OS.

Upgrading to Windows 8

So if you are running Windows 7, you will be able to keep all programs, Windows settings and user account files.

If you create installation media, start your PC from the media, and then install Windows 8 Release Preview, you won’t be able to keep your files, programs, or settings. To keep files, programs, or settings you need to install Windows 8 Release Preview by starting your installation from within Windows.

Facebook launches Mideast office in Dubai

8bb5ff5c33231e0f110f6a706700d5b4 300x202 Facebook launches Mideast office in Dubai
Facebook Inc. launched its first office in the Arab world Wednesday, aiming to drum up new advertising business from Dubai as investors fret over its struggling share price.
The online meet-up site and other social networking tools were instrumental in connecting activists during the wave of protests and revolutions that reverberated across the region last year.
But Joanna Shields, Facebook’s vice president and managing director for Europe, the Mideast and Africa, said the decision to lay down roots in the region was purely commercial.
“People on Facebook … use it to organize rallies for all kinds of elections around the world,” she said. “We’re humbled by that and we are happy that we can facilitate. But we always downplay the (site’s) role because it’s really the people there who came together and did what they did.”
The office is starting with three employees in Dubai’s Internet City, a business park popular with tech firms including Microsoft Corp.and Google Inc.
Facebook’s website lists some 30 offices globally.
The aim is to attract more ad sales by targeting the 45 million users that Facebook says it has across the Middle East and North Africa.
Executives declined to say how much revenue the region currently generates or what their goals are for the future.
In 2010, Facebook teamed with Cairo-based advertising company Connect Ads to better reach advertisers in the region.
Jonathan Labin, who will lead the Dubai office, said existing advertisers in the region include Dubai-based Emirates, the region’s biggest airline.
The Dubai launch follows Facebook’s May 18 initial public offering at $38 a share, one of the most anticipated stock debuts in history.
The stock had lost 24 percent of its value ahead of the Dubai launch, which was held in the plush Armani Hotel at the base of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest skyscraper.
While the share’s gyrations are a hot topic on Wall Street, Shields said Facebook employees are not fixated on reports about the stock’s slide.
“I don’t even listen to it, to be honest … because I’ve got a job to do,” she said. “I think we’re just getting on with it.”

Lightest Ultrabook on the Planet? Gigabyte Unveils X11 Carbon Fiber Laptop

8220a32a3034100f110f6a7067006a841 Lightest Ultrabook on the Planet? Gigabyte Unveils X11 Carbon Fiber Laptop
When you’re down to fighting over tenths of a pound, claims of “world’s lightest” are more about marketing than utility, but Gigabyte’s X11 appears to fit the company’s billing as such: Gigabyte just confirmed its 11.6-inch MacBook Air-lookalike exists and weighs just 975 grams, or about 2.15 pounds. Contrast with Dell’s top-selling XPS 13 Ultrabook, which weighs about three pounds.
Gigabyte teased the new laptop last week with a promo slide that read “Launch of the Lightest Notebook on Earth” followed by “Conquer the 6th Element” and a launch date of today, May 31. No, not The Sixth Element (a 2006 surfing film/documentary, according to Wikipedia) but the periodic table’s sixth-in-position, i.e. carbon, referring in this case to carbon fiber, an ultra-strong, lightweight material I’m mostly familiar with from when I used to cycle semi-competitively back in the early 1990s and forked over a boatload of cash to buy a road bike made from the material.
Of course Gigabyte then dated themselves by writing “Thus, we have discovered the 6th element.” A little late Gigabyte: Other Ultrabooks, including Dell’s XPS 13, already use carbon fiber, and boutique PC-maker Voodoo PC was building lightweight laptops wholly from carbon fiber back in the mid-aughts (I know, because I owned one). The X11′s also fully carbon fiber, save for the hinge, which is aluminum. Gigabyte touts the strength of carbon fiber as “6 times stronger than that of an aluminum notebook,” though there’s debate about which material is more durable in specific circumstances — some in fact argue that aluminum is the more durable material, especially when heated.
Spec-wise, the 11.6-inch X11 is as thin as it looks: 0.12 inches at its tapered front, 0.65-inches at the back. It sports an unidentified “3rd generation Intel Core” processor (Ivy Bridge), 4GB of DDR3 memory, 128GB solid state hard drive, a Mobile Intel HM77 Express chipset with Intel HD Graphics 4000 (according to Engadget), 1366 x 768 pixel LED, 1.3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, one USB 2.0 and a second 3.0 port, microSD slot, audio in/out and a mini-display port. Interestingly, Gigabyte is touting the X11′s sound playback capabilities — anemic in most laptops this size — as “rich” and “large” thanks to “the large resonator and large diaphragm monomer in the extremely thin chassis.” (We’ll see about that.) You’ll also get a 4730mAh Li-ion sealed battery and a low-key, Apple-style keyboard. Gigabyte says the X11 will range in price from $999 to $1,299 and be “on the market” in July.
The company also announced two other products: The U2442, a lightweight notebook weighing 3.5 pounds with more powerful Ivy Bridge-based processors ($999 to $1,299, on the market in mid-June) and the U2440 notebook, a “light and thin” system that’ll also pack Ivy Bridge as well as discrete NVIDIA graphics (from $699, on the market by the end of June).
