FACEBOOK / 1.34CR. PACKAGE / KANPUR TO CALIFORNIA........B.E STUDENT FROM MNNIT

In what is probably the highest-ever offer to a graduate of the National Institutes of Technology (NITs) in the country, a student of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) has bagged an annual package of almost Rs 1.30 crore from social networking company Facebook.
The NITs were earlier known as regional engineering colleges.

The student, whose identity has been withheld by the Institute after he expressed concerns over his security, is in the eighth semester of B.Tech (Electronics). He hails from Kanpur and comes from a middle class background.

“This student’s package is $ 2,62,500 annually. At current rates, it is around Rs 1.30 crore per annum,” said Nandan.

“The process began with an email and after going through nine rounds of telephonic interviews, he got the appointment letter on March 27,” said press relation officer, MNIIT, Dr Tanuj Nandan.

The student will begin his assignment as software engineer in California from October later this year, he added.
